On June 10, 2014, CEED Albania has organized the opening event of “Empowering Women in Business” project which has taken place at Tirana International Hotel – “Abret” Room.
The overall objective of this activity was to enhance the leadership, management and entrepreneurial skills of early-stage and existing women entrepreneurs/managers, diminish the human capital gap and increase the number of women entrepreneurs and managers who own/manage SMES and who contribute to the national economies of the region.
This activity was supported and funded by USAID (REG Regional Economic Growth) and was the first of a series of activities that CEED Albania will implement and which focus Albanian women entrepreneurs.
This event has also served for identifying suitable women entrepreneurs which will later be involved in comprehensive training and learning activities.
The panel participants were Mrs. Emanuela Pepkola Zaimi, founder of Down Syndrome Foundation Albania and Mrs. Linda Shomo, General Manager, Easypay Shpk.
The event started with a presentation conducted by Mr. Deni Guga, Director of the CEED Albania, who thanked USAID in Albania for the continued support and funding of activities in the entrepreneurship field, including a short description of CEED Albania.
After the activity was follow by the speech of Mrs. Emanuela Pepkola Zaimi.
Emanuela, founder of the Down Syndrome Foundation Albania, through the confession of his own personal experience, has made known to the participants, her tenacity and her efforts – so far very well done – relating to the establishment and deepening of the activity of this foundation, whose purpose is, among other, to improve the living conditions and integration into Albanian society of the children and people with Down syndrome.
She stressed that “everything that happens in our life has a reason” and how important is that we are prepared for what’s coming ahead. That’s why trainings like these are more than necessary meanwhile we seek to fulfill our goals. She also answered the questions addressed to her by the participants and at the end she thanked all for the presence and the hospitality.
The second Guest Speaker was Mrs. Linda Shomo, General Manager, Easypay Shpk.
Linda with 15 years of experience in ICT mostly in financial sector, presently offering consulting and project management in IT strategy, system integration, and application management shared with the participants her experience in the business environment, the difficulties and the satisfaction she had during her work. She also explained why women in business always face a dilemma; spend more time with family, or dedicated more efforts to work. According to her, only time will tell what the right answer is.
In this opening event, participated around 38 business woman.
The event was close with a network cocktail.
